Downtown Hotel Project Secures Key Funding
On February 17, The City of Frederick’s Board of Alderman unanimously approved to accept $2.52 million from Frederick County government to assist in the purchase of the future site of the downtown hotel and conference. Proposed as a full-service Marriott branded hotel, the project will serve as an economic anchor along Carroll Creek - providing new downtown lodging options, stimulating local spending, and attracting future private investment to the area.
Historic Preservation Property Tax Credit Applications Open
The City of Frederick is accepting applications for the City Historic Preservation Property Tax Credit until April 1, 2022. Tax paying property owners may apply for a credit equal to 25 percent of the properly documented expenditures incurred during 2021 for exterior work that contributes to the restoration or preservation of a structure designated by the City of Frederick as a Historic Preservation Overlay zone.

Earlier this week, Governor Larry Hogan announced the awardees from the Fiscal Year 2021 application round for state revitalization programs administered by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development.
