Female Entrepreneurs Showcased in S.H.E. Pitch Competition
The Frederick County Chamber of Commerce recently wrapped up S.H.E. Week 2021 — a week-long program focused on empowering and developing women through education, networking, mentoring and partnerships. New this year, the line-up of events included a SHE Pitch competition designed for women-owned businesses in both the “idea” and “growth” stages, and complete with cash prizes. Tax Relief May Be Available For Property Owners Impacted By Hurricane Ida
The Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT) is encouraging residents and businesses whose property has been damaged by the effects of Hurricane Ida to contact the Department, as they may qualify to have their property assessments reduced. Maryland residents can fill out this form and email it to their local SDAT assessment office.
Small Business Webinars for Frederick: September
Maryland’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) provides support to local entrepreneurs and small businesses. In addition to providing free individual consultation, the organization hosts comprehensive training programs with most classes at low to no cost. One-Stop Shop Permitting to Resume
Following a pause due to COVID-19 restrictions, The City of Frederick’s One-Stop Shop permitting will resume on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. The One-Stop Shop occurs every Tuesday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m at the City’s Annex Building (140 W Patrick Street). One-Stop Shop provides SAME-DAY permitting for certain small projects, including tenant fit-out and sign permits.

Frederick Municipal Airport Receives Grant for Runway Extension Improvements
The City of Frederick is excited to announce that the Frederick Municipal Airport (FDK) was recently awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation of $4,820,151 for the Frederick Municipal Airport Runway Extension Project. These funds will be used to relocate 1,900 feet of the parallel taxiway.
