For a quarter of a century, the BIO International Convention (BIO) has attracted the world's top biotechnology and pharma leaders to one location for a week of in-person networking and partnering.
This year, a record-setting (truly -- Guiness Book of World Record was there to confirm it) number of business meetings, within a wide spectrum of life science and application areas, such as drug discovery, biomanufacturing, genomics, biofuels, nanotechnology and cell therapy, were hosted during the Boston-located conference. A staggering 17,000+ individuals were recorded to have attended.
Many Frederick companies took the opportunity, not only to attend, but also to participate in exhibiting at the event -- contributing their own impressive accomplishments to the 'wow factor' of the international tradeshow.
Next to booths dedicated to entire countries - Canada, Italy, Mexico - an entire pavilion was dedicated to Maryland and the exciting, innovative work being completed right here in our State. Representatives from the Frederick National Laboratory and Fort Detrick were placed in the forefront of the exhibit to discuss the world-leading research occurring in Frederick. A spotlight was also placed on Frederick Innovative Technology Center Inc (FITCI) as a number of successful graduates and clients - including RoosterBio, Tritium, Theradaptive, and Biofactura - shared their accomplishments while building new partnerships.
At the event, The City of Frederick's Department of Economic Development and the County's Office of Economic Development joined together under the larger name 'Frederick' to support these companies and to spread the compelling story of our region to the global audience.
